For more than 25 years, The Black Women Expo has been running full steam ahead, attracting women from all across the country. The annual spring event came to a halt this year, when CEO, Merry Green received notice that the McCormick Center in Chicago canceled its spring and summer events due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a May 21st letter to Facebook followers, a brief note said, “Dear Loyal BWe Supporters, We regret to inform you of the cancellation of this year’s Black Women’s Expo. We have already scheduled new dates for 2021 and trust that you will continue to support the virtual events that we have in store for the balance of the year! In the meantime, please stay safe, and we’ll be back BIGGER AND BETTER next year! “
The series of virtual programming featured panelists, motivational speakers, and fitness experts. Green continues to host virtual programming throughout the year as a means to promote the Expo’s exhibitors’ brand.
The BWE inspires business ideas, and spur economic development. It is a networking platform for exhibitors, attendees, and local businesses. The Expo is rescheduled for next year, at the McCormick Center, April 9-11, 2021.
